A few weeks later Anne offered me a job as Assistant Trainer. I did not know if my personal pledge and her offer were cosmically related, but it was a big deal to me. As part of the offer, I could bring two horses to Market Street. One was for me to keep long-term, Sapphire, and the other, TJ, was a horse my family wanted to sell.

When it was time to leave Wellington and head to Anne’s summer facility in New Jersey, I made the drive north with the crew, then promptly caught a flight back to Vancouver. I had to pack up Sapphire and TJ, and make the long drive back across North America with my father.

Things were finally falling into place.
